***Means you are to conduct oneself in a proper manner***

Read 1 John Chapter 2

Key Verses: 1 John 2:15-17

15 “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”

Ask yourself, “Do I live my life, 24/7, to please the Lord?”

Your sinful nature will be in constant battle with the part of you that wants nothing more but to please the Lord. So, in what ways are you resisting the craving for the things the world is offering you? What are you doing throughout your day to keep your focus on Jesus?

The world’s lure can feel overwhelming at times, and maybe you feel you can’t escape it’s temptation. But understanding the battle within yourself and figuring out the areas you struggle with the most, is step one to pushing those worldly cravings aside. The sooner you pinpoint a few things that pull you in swiftly to the world’s pleasures, the sooner you can release those things into the hands of your Savior and have Him remove that sinful desire for good.

1 John 2:15a says, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you…”

What are some activities you participate in that question your walk with the Lord?

1 John 2:15b says, “…for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you…”

This isn’t something to take lightly! Jesus is with you, wherever you go, He goes. If you do not stand out in the world or you feel perfectly comfortable in the worldly activities you participate in… sadly, it’s in those moments you are pushing the Lord aside. You either love the world and everything it offers or you love the Father and everything He offers. There really isn’t a fine line here, it’s abrupt and quite obvious.

Your joy and your peace will come by pleasing the Lord in everything you do!

This world will eventually fade away completely and as a Christian your primary focus should be on the rewards you are setting aside in Heaven! Do your behaviors point other people to Christ? Or do your behaviors continue to point people to a path towards destruction?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to You with a humble heart, I know some of my behaviors are not pleasing to you. Obeying Your commands isn’t something I should be overlooking. Forgive me Father for the worldly enticements that I continually indulge in. Help me Lord to focus ALL of my intentions by serving You and glorifying Your Name. Thank You Jesus for convicting my heart through Your Holy Spirit so I can stay on the straight and narrow path towards You. Amen.
