***Means you are marked by having deep understanding, keen discernment, and a capacity for sound judgment***
Read Proverbs Chapter 1
Key verses: Proverbs 1:20, 23,-24, 28-29, 33
20 “Wisdom shouts in the streets.
Wisdom cries out in the public square.
23 Come and listen to my counsel.
I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise.
24 I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come.
I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.
28 When they cry for help, I will not answer.
Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.
29 For they hated knowledge
and chose not to fear the Lord.
33 But all who listen to me will live in peace,
untroubled by fear of harm.”
In the Book of Proverbs, Solomon lays out quite plainly the need for wisdom and what happens to those who do not seek wisdom. In 1 Kings 3:9-10a, Solomon, who became the King of Israel at 20 years of age, asked the Lord for wisdom. He wanted to treat the people of Israel with wise judgement, to know the difference between right and wrong. It says in 1Kings 3:10a, “The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom…”
Do you know the difference between right and wrong? Do you seek the Lord and ask for wisdom? Does your first thought, before making any decision, turn your heart to the Lord for wisdom?
Wisdom shouts! It longs for you to seek its understanding. Are you paying attention its cries? Are you listening to the truth of Scripture?
When you search for wisdom in the world, you will not find what you are looking for. How will you look for wisdom differently after learning it only comes through the fear of the Lord? Listening to the voice of wisdom is how you will gain peace in your life. Whose voice are you listening to? What is shouting at you and turning your head? Wisdom is crying out to you, “Come, listen to my counsel.”
The Word of God is your compass, and this compass is what leads you on the path towards wisdom and righteous living.
Don’t make the mistake of hearing the cry of wisdom and not running to it… Don’t make the mistake of seeing the hand of wisdom reaching out to you and not reaching for its help. If you continue to live your life ignoring the cries of wisdom, don’t wait, there will come a time when you run to wisdom’s cry and you will no longer find its answer.
Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Call on Him now while He is near.”
Wisdom wants to share its heart with you, this is the heart of God! Seek to know right from wrong… just as Solomon did, this pleases the Lord.
Prayer:
Lord, my heart yearns for Your wisdom above all else. Help me seek Your wisdom while You are near. Just as Solomon asked You for wisdom and the knowledge to differentiate right from wrong, place that same desire in my heart as well. I want to please You, Lord. Amen.
