Psalm 122 and 123

Read Psalm Chapters 122 and 123

Key Verses: Psalm 122:8-9 and 123:1…

“Author of 122 is David; Author of 123 is Anonymous, some suggest Hezekiah”

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
And now here we are,
standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is a well-built city;
its seamless walls cannot be breached.
All the tribes of Israel—the Lord’s people—
    make their pilgrimage here.
They come to give thanks to the name of the Lord,
as the law requires of Israel.
Here stand the thrones where judgment is given,
the thrones of the dynasty of David.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem.
May all who love this city prosper.
O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls
    and prosperity in your palaces.
For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,
    “May you have peace.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.

I lift my eyes to You,
    O God, enthroned in heaven.
We keep looking to the Lord our God for His mercy,
just as servants keep their eyes on their master,
as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy,
for we have had our fill of contempt.
We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud
and the contempt of the arrogant.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, when I keep my eyes focused on You, it is then that I see Your mercy, it is then that I realize You have everything in Your control. The arrogant may continue in their contempt and scoffing, but You will take care of them when the time is right. In the meantime, Father, I cry out for Your mercy, evil in the world has made its mark and I long for Your peace to sweep across the nations. In the meantime, I find peace in Your presence and as I lift my eyes to You, I can find rest just knowing You, O God, are enthroned in Heaven. Amen.
