Psalm 19:1-6

The heavens proclaim the Glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known.
They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.
God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.

I don’t know about you, but I love looking at the sky. I love the clouds, or on a clear day I love how blue the sky can get. In the evening nothing brings me more joy than a sunset that spreads across the sky in magnificent color. Each of those things shows us how the sky, the heavens, proclaim the Glory of God. If you are a person who never looks to the sky, maybe you should!

Verse 19:1,

“…the skies display God’s craftmanship…”

Verse 19:2,

“Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known.”

I don’t have trouble knowing there is a God in Heaven that has created the Universe, so when I look to the heavens, I see the Lord in everything. I see His marvelous creativity in all creation. I can look at the sky and feel the presence of my Father in Heaven. Creation speaks to me, just like the verse 19:2 says. I see God’s Glory! It does take a moment of reflection to know and feel the presence of God. In this hurried lifestyle many of us experience, it’s important to take a moment and stop. Really stop. Look at everything around you, let God show you His presence in the things you see.

Verses 19:3 and 4a,

“They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world…”

It‘s easy to go about your day without looking around you. We can miss so much by worrying about traffic or getting to a meeting in time or wondering if your day will go as planned or if your children will behave. So many things can take our attention off the message creation is trying to communicate. God is Glorious! Look at what He has made!

Verses 19:4b-6,

4b God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.

The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its heat.

One thing we cannot deny is that the sun will set each evening and it will rise each morning. God has set the rhythm of the day to the sun’s placement in the sky. He orchestrates everything perfectly. So when we are waking up in the morning and the sun is peeking up over the horizon, think of it as God saying, “Hello and Good Morning!” The warmth of the sun is like a loving embrace from our Father in Heaven, we can’t run from it!

Try going about your day completely aware of creation. Marvel at the radiance of the sky, look with wonder at the beauty of trees, flowers and plants, soak in the sounds of the ocean, rivers and streams. They all tell of the magnificence of God the Almighty Creator of the Universe.

Have a wonderfully, beautiful day!

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day the Lord has made.

We will rejoice and be glad in it!”
