Read Matthew Chapter 13

Key Verses: Matthew 13:18-23

18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: 19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. 20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. 23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s Word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

As you look at your walk with the Lord where do you find yourself when you read these verses?

Have you heard the Word of God, but because you don’t understand the things you read in your Bible you have allowed the enemy to steal the knowledge you once held dear? Maybe you heard the message of Jesus but before you made a decision to accept the gift of Salvation the enemy stole the newly planted seeds and diverted your attention off of the Lord completely.

Did you receive the message of Salvation? Did you accept it joyfully and fully give your heart to the Lord, only to set it aside when the first sign of trouble came your way?

Do you live a lukewarm Christianity? Do you attend church, have Christian friends, even read your Bible occasionally, but your heart is still lassoed to the world’s empty sparkle? Is it your worries that are keeping you from looking up and letting the Lord into your circumstances? Do you ponder on unfulfilling, unbiblical things so the knowledge and understanding you have sought after causes the fruit you bear to be rotten?

Or did the Word of the Lord transform you through and through? Do you listen and understand? Have you gained knowledge and understanding? Have you planted seeds in countless lives and watched those lives grow steadily in the Word of God because of the brilliant light of Jesus shining through you? Is it evident by the fruit you bear that the Lord Jesus Christ is your only source of nourishment?

Prayer:

Lord God, I want my life to be fruitful, I want the seed You planted within my heart to grow and to flourish. Please guard my heart against anything that would try to come along and pick away at the seeds You planted. Lord, bless be with understanding so that I can plant seeds from the Word of God into everyone I come in contact with. I want my life to produce a plentiful harvest because I am faithfully throwing the Seeds of Life along every pathway. I pray that those seeds would be used for Your purpose, forever. AMEN.
