Psalm 118:24

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!”

Every morning this verse is one to recite. Every morning is made new and fresh by our Lord. Every morning we can make a new dedication to the Lord. Every morning is our opportunity to do something spectacular for the Lord!

The Message (MSG) gives a little more background for this one verse, here is Psalm 118:21-25:

^21-25 “Thank you for responding to me;
    you’ve truly become my salvation!
The stone the masons discarded as flawed
    is now the cornerstone!
This is God’s work.
    We rub our eyes—we can hardly believe it!
This is the very day God acted—
    let’s celebrate and be festive!
Salvation now, God. Salvation now!
    Oh yes, God—a free and full life!”

The entire chapter of Psalm 118 speaks of victory and overcoming great hardship, trusting in the Lord and praising the Lord for all He did to redeem His people. So, verse 24 is a celebration! Thanking the Lord for all He has done.

Whatever we might go through, the Lord is worthy of our praise. He will be the One to stand beside us no matter what. Verses 28 and 29 say:

“You are my God, and I will praise you!
    You are my God, and I will exalt you! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

Praise God for what He’s doing in your life, praise Him for the hardships so you might see His glorious hand move. Praise God for the beauty you see in the world today. Start fresh, start new. No matter your circumstance, “This is the day the Lord has made…” He has purpose for all that He does. We just need to keep our eyes on Him.

Rejoice! Be Glad! The Lord God is with you! Stand tall and celebrate!

Yes, LORD, you are MY GOD! I do praise YOU!! I exalt YOUR NAME OH LORD!! Thank you for bringing me to salvation and creating in me something new. Each day, I pray that I will rise and give You honor and praise! I rejoice in You My God, My LORD!!
