Psalm 56:8-13
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in a bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. My enemies will retreat when I call to You for help. This I Know: God is on my side! I praise God for what He has promised; Yes, I praise the LORD for what He has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? I will fulfill my vows to You, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for Your help. For You have rescued me from death; You have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in Your presence O God, in your life-giving light.”
We have so much to be thankful for… Don’t we?
When we take the time to ponder, meditate on the Word of God, it really does take on new meaning. God’s word is meant to give us life. Do you find that happening as you read each day?
Our verses for today tell me a little bit more of God’s heart. Look at verse 8,
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in a bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
God sees us. When you really think about the care it takes for the LORD to see each tear we shed, to scoop it up and to record the meaning behind those tears, I feel like God keeps these things close to His heart. He feels our sorrows. He wants us to know that He is there, He’s close by, He’s collecting each tear. That should give us great comfort. The next time sorrow takes over and each welled up tear spills over onto your cheeks – remember – God knows the reason for each tear. He is right there! Reach out to Him, let Him comfort you.
There are many reasons why we may cry out to God for help. When the craziness of a day catches up with us, or the chaos of a home life, or even an incredibly intolerable attitude from another person side lines our day. We can cry out to God and ask for help! We don’t need to go through these difficult things all on our own!
Verse 9,
“This I know: God is on my side!”
Think of the things we have learned about God’s character, the things He promises us! He doesn’t want us to limp through life all on our own. When we put our trust in God, He’s the one who comes to our rescue. He doesn’t want us leaning on ourselves, struggling to get our footing. No! God is the One who keeps us from slipping. We have the awesome privilege to walk in the presence of God! Lean on Him! When we think about the wonderful things God does for us, the “thank you” we should be offering, should be never ending.
God rescues us when we call out…
God is on our side…
God does what He promises…
God is trustworthy….
God keeps us from slipping…
God’s presence is a life-giving light!
What are your vows to the LORD?
Verse 12,
“I will fulfill my vows to you, O God.”
God does so much for us! What are you doing for Him? What are some of those things you have promised in your heart that you want to fulfill? Are you doing them?
God’s promises are NEVER empty.
Ours shouldn’t be either…
We can offer praise, offer thanks for all that God has done for us – but let’s not forget to do what God calls us to do – serve Him, Honor Him, Glorify Him –
IN EVERYTHING WE DO.
THANK YOU, LORD! For all You do in my Life!! Help me to be an honor to You in everything I do!
I LOVE YOU LORD!!
~AMEN ~
