Romans 8:28
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
Have you ever wondered what your purpose is? Why did God make you the way that He did/ Our specific personalities tell us a lot about how God wants to use us for His purpose.
Have you known someone who is over the top outgoing? Can go up to anyone and start a conversation! Maybe here we can see the makings of an evangelist! What about the person who is much more reserved, a little more quiet, almost on the shy side. Maybe here we have the prayer warrior, the intercessor of prayer. God calls each of us for His purpose.
So let’s back up…
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good…”
As believers we do have a specific purpose, to live our lives for the LORD, to give Him praise and honor in everything we do. With that kind of obedience, I truly believe that God will work things out for the good. “…for the good of those who love God…”
We all have struggles, we go through illness and pain…sometimes circumstances hit our lives and almost blind-side us. What then? Let’s think about this for a moment… we could have the attitude “God cause everything to work together for good,” so I’m going to do as I please and have God work it out for me.
I believe God’s intentions for working everything out for the good depends highly on our actions. Wouldn’t you agree?
If we are seeking the LORD in all we do, in our decisions, our actions, even the words and tone of voice we are using – even when making mistakes, messing up, like we all do from time to time. God can bless and will bless us, because He sees the true intent of our hearts.
So, let’s look at it this way…
As believers our lives should shine the light of Jesus, right? What happens though, if we decide to turn our hearts, our attitudes towards a path that does not give honor to the name of Jesus? Does that give us the right to still expect God to honor us by working things out for good? If by our actions we are living by our own rules and taking advantage of the Grace of God, how can God move? No. I don’t believe that God will put up with intentional sinful behavior from His children without discipline and consequence. He will bring us back to Himself with a firm but gentle hand to get us back on the right path. And guess what? It is up to us at that point to recognize our actions, repent – seek absolute forgiveness – turn your eyes back on the LORD and continue on the path, the purpose God has called us to be on.
“…God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God…”
We all have the same purpose as believers. To do the Will of the LORD. To praise, to honor, to share the Gospel Message. By using our specific gifts, our personalities, our strengths, our weaknesses – God will use each of those things to further His Kingdom. That’s how He is going to cause everything to work together for the GOOD.
What’s our part in all this? – LOVE GOD –
Mark 12:29-30 says, “…The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength…”
So, if you are going through something that is absolutely ripping your heart out. You have the choice to allow anger, bitterness, and resentment to settle into your heart. If you settle into that kind of extreme emotion, it will become more and more difficult to give the LORD your all.
But, if through your pain you can turn your eyes fully onto the LORD, see the purpose God has for a painful situation your life will be changed, you will see the good. It may be that a season of difficulty needed to happen – so God’s Glory could be shown to you in a more magnificent way! When doubt and fear creep in… it’s easy to start wondering what our purpose is… or how things can work together for good. You know what? It’s not up to us to know how God is going to work things out.
What is up to us?!
Keep our eyes, ears, hearts and minds in tuned with what God wants us to see, hear, feel and think about. That way! We will be ready to do the Will of the LORD when we hear Him calling. Truly, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus –
2 Corinthians 4:18, “…we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen…”
Love Him with all our hearts, we will see God working things out for the good! He will show us our purpose.
I love you LORD! ~AMEN~
